Community care & accessibility

A thoughtful welcome
makes a difference.

A welcoming space takes more than an invitation. It takes respect for boundaries, different ways to participate, and people who help care for the community.

Participation, on your terms

Real lives don’t follow
a single pace.

We recognize that pain, fatigue, sensory overload, attention, and communication needs can change from day to day. Our approach makes room for that.

Tell us what would help

Taking a break is okay.

Leaving suddenly, going slowly, or returning after time away doesn’t require an explanation. Your health and energy come first.

Conversation is one way to connect.

Text, optional voice, shared activities, and quiet presence can all be part of the experience. You don’t have to talk to be included.

Getting started can take support.

Our player website offers joining information and guides, and the team can discuss help with the first steps. Prior Minecraft experience isn’t required to ask about joining.

How we care for our shared space

Respect is the foundation.

Our Minecraft and Discord community norms guide how we treat one another, with moderation to help uphold them.

Dignity across differences

We welcome different identities, backgrounds, abilities, and experiences. Harassment, hate, and discrimination have no place in our community.

Boundaries and privacy

Members are not pressured to share personal information or continue unwanted conversations. Sharing others’ conversations outside the community requires explicit permission.

Care across ages

Adults are expected to maintain appropriate boundaries with younger members. Families can ask the team about participation and support needs. Platform age requirements apply.

Concerns deserve attention

Members can privately contact a moderator about behavior, boundaries, or something that makes them uncomfortable. Reports are taken seriously.

Understanding the space

Shared expectations
help everyone.

Is Second Haven a therapy service?

Second Haven’s community activities focus on social time, creativity, shared play, and peer connection. They are not clinical treatment or emergency support. A partner-led program would need its own clearly agreed scope and responsibilities.

Does everyone need to use voice chat?

No. Text and activity-based participation are part of the community. If a specific group activity has participation requirements, talk with the team about what would work for you before joining.

Is every part of Minecraft accessible to everyone?

Access depends on the device, game controls, sensory needs, and individual circumstances. We don’t assume one setup works for everyone. Contact us to discuss a need or report a barrier, including one on this website.

How do I raise a community concern?

If you are already a member, contact a moderator privately through the community’s established channels. For a general question about our approach, email info@secondhavenmc.org.

We can keep
learning together.

Accessibility is ongoing work. We welcome feedback from participants, caregivers, volunteers, and partners about what’s working and what could be easier.
